Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan is excited for the digital premiere of his latest movie, “Vikram Vedha”, which will be available on JioCinema from May 12. The actor expressed that the movie’s digital release feels like a theatrical release, and he is feeling pre-release jitters all over again. Hrithik is delighted that the film will be available in not only Hindi but also Marathi and Bengali languages, without any subscription and free of cost.
JioCinema is one of India’s leading streaming platforms, currently witnessing a viewership of 400 million. It will host “Vikram Vedha” as the first of its launch calendar of 100 titles, making it perhaps the widest OTT launch for a film. Hrithik described the scale of the OTT launch as an unprecedented event.
“Vikram Vedha” is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. The movie is an action crime thriller based on the popular Indian folktale “Vikram aur Betal”. It narrates the story of a determined police officer (Saif Ali Khan) on a hunt to track down a menacing gangster, portrayed by Hrithik.
Apart from Hrithik and Saif, the movie also features Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf and Yogita Bihani in pivotal roles. Released theatrically in September 2022, the film was praised by critics for being a faithful adaptation of the original folktale as well as the outstanding performances of Hrithik and Saif.
