Sonakshi Sinha on Playing Bold Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhaati in Prime Video’s Dahaad: ‘I Was Born for This Role!’

Sonakshi Sinha, renowned Bollywood actress, has expressed her belief that she was destined to portray the strong and courageous sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati in the Prime Video crime mystery thriller series, Dahaad. Emphasizing the profound impact of this role, she described it as one of her finest experiences. Anjali Bhaati, who has garnered immense adoration from viewers and fans alike, embodies a problem-solving nature and an unparalleled commitment to her duty, mirroring the women encountered in everyday life.

Having made her Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan in Dabangg, Sonakshi revealed her excitement at the opportunity to portray a tough cop in her debut on an over-the-top (OTT) platform with Dahaad, which has been available for streaming on Prime Video since May 12.

Drawing attention to the pressing need for more strong, bold, and action-oriented female characters on screen, the actress revealed that it took her less than an hour to wholeheartedly accept the script. She expressed her satisfaction with this decision, as each character in Dahaad is crafted with compassion and authenticity, resonating deeply with viewers. Sonakshi emphasized that now is the time for powerful characters, especially women, who are strong, bold, and ready for action.

Dahaad, an eight-episode crime drama, was created by the accomplished duo Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The series features Sonakshi Sinha in a lead role alongside talented actors Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah.

The show is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, while production is handled by Excel Media and Entertainment and Tiger Baby. Serving as executive producers are Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti.
