Imran Khan Appears at Islamabad HC for Al-Qadir Trust Case Amid Heightened Security in Pakistan

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared before the Islamabad High Court on Friday in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case.

This comes a day after the Supreme Court deemed his arrest “illegal” and responsible for fatal confrontations across the nation.

Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is seeking bail, which will soon be heard by a two-person special division bench. Extraordinary security measures were put in place for Imran Khan’s appearance, with police and Frontier Corps personnel on duty outside the IHC.

PTI supporters have gathered in the area, and the police crackdown on the party’s leaders continues.

The Supreme Court declared Khan’s arrest “illegal” on May 11 and instructed authorities to release him “immediately”. Following the decision, the apex court sent him to the Police Lines Guest House, allowing him to spend the night with his family.

Protests have broken out across the country as PTI supporters have been urged to come out in support of Imran Khan.
